School Life in Japan
The Japanese school year goes from April to March. It is split into three trimesters. The first semester is from April to July, and then there is a 40 day summer break. The second semester is from September to December with a two week winter break. The last semester is from January to march with a 10 day spring break.

In school Japanese elementary schoolers learn Japanese, English (some schools), math, science, social studies, music, crafts, physical education, and home economics. By the end of elementary school, you learn 1000 kanji. some traditional arts such as Haiku (poems) and shoddo (calligraphy) are learned also.
